Care 4 Your Lolli Riot: So your buddy sticks around forever
Your Lolli Riot has come loose from the monitor for the third time and is lying helplessly on your keyboard. You can feel its reproachful gaze. But don’t worry: your little flatmate just needs a bit of love and it’ll be up and running again in no time! We’ll give you some tips on how to get your Lolli Riot firmly back in place and how to look after it otherwise.
Help, my Buddy isn’t sticking anymore – here’s what you can do!
Your Lolli Riot is slowly sliding down the wall. Or it might just fall off and give you a sad look. If the sticker on its tummy isn’t sticking anymore, it’s usually because of a build-up of dust or grease. Here’s how to get your buddy stuck on again!
- Gently remove the old double-sided adhesive sticker from your Lolli Riots
- Lightly dampen your finger with water and gently wipe over the belly of your Lolli Riots to remove any dust and fluff
- Leave it to air dry completely (do not dry it with a cloth, otherwise fluff will stick to it straight away!)
- Position the new sticker from its packaging onto the belly of your Lolli Riots and stick it back onto your chosen object.
And there’s your mate, sitting proudly back in his spot as if nothing had ever happened. Typical!
Pro tip for a perfect grip: Before you reattach the Lolli Riot, make sure you clean the area on your mobile or screen with a lens cleaning cloth or some rubbing alcohol. Once the surface is completely free of grease, your Buddy will stick like a dream!
Troubleshooting
Replacing adhesive tape: When nothing else works
If your Buddy still won’t stick even after cleaning, or if the old pad is broken or has come away, carefully peel the remains off the figure’s tummy and use one of these alternatives:
- Nano tape: This thicker, transparent and rubbery double-sided adhesive tape is available from DIY stores or online. It sticks extremely well, doesn’t damage surfaces and can be removed without leaving any residue. Simply cut off a tiny piece the size of the tummy, stick it to the desired spot and put the Buddy back in its favourite place.
- Adhesive dots: These small, strong-hold dots from craft shops or the stationery section (e.g. Tesa Tacks) are often just the right size for the figure (you’ll need no more than 1–2).
- Strong double-sided adhesive tape: This also works well, but can sometimes be a bit trickier to remove than Nano-Tape and should only be used in emergencies and on areas that won’t be moved.
- Alligator clip (and superglue): If you don’t want to stick your figure down permanently, why not turn it into a clip? Simply attach an alligator clip to the Lolli Riot using superglue and clip it onto your bag, a notebook or even your clothes. Warning: Only use superglue in combination with the clip!
What you should NOT do:
- Do not use superglue to attach the figure to surfaces: It will ruin your mobile phone case or monitor, and you’ll never be able to remove the figure unscathed.
- Do not apply hot glue directly to Lolli Riot or surfaces: The heat can warp the vinyl or plastic of the figure and damage electronic devices.
Where’s the best place to stick my Buddy?
Not every surface is buddy-approved!
Lolli Riots’ favourite spots:
- Smooth surfaces such as smartphones, tablets, screens or notebooks – the perfect organisational aids
- Bathroom mirrors to help you check your morning routine
- Picture frames as your dream-chasing buddies
- Desk lamps or shelves
No-Go-Zones:
- Rough or porous walls (won’t last long)
- Dusty surfaces (see tips above)
- Extremely cold or hot areas
- Wallpaper (tends to tear off easily)
- Very rough surfaces such as plaster or concrete
- Fabrics (unless you use a crocodile clip, see above)
How to keep your Lolli Riot fresh at all times
Lolli Riots are tough little blokes, but a bit of love never goes amiss:
- Monthly check: Dust off your little flatmate, check its adhesive surface and treat it to a new spot every now and then (before it gets bored).
- Gentle cleaning: If your buddy ever gets a bit of a mess on it (coffee stains or similar), clean it gently with lukewarm water and soap. Caution: don’t use a brush!
- Things to avoid: Cleaning Lolli Riot with alcohol or harsh cleaning products, using a hairdryer or heater to dry it, or tearing it off forcefully!
- Fun fact: Some people treat their buddies to a spa day once a month – a clean, a new spot, fresh vibes. Your buddy will thank you with years of loyalty.
